New operator, new plan for Ramea fish plant
An agreement has been reached that will see Labrador Gem Seafoods Inc. of L’Anse au Clair purchase the Ramea fish plant for $1. Over the last 18 months the Ramea Cooperative was successful in getting public funds to bring the plant up to an efficient and effective operation. The plant is certified by the provincial government, everything is in good standing and the plant is in excellent shape, said Mr. Dumaresque.

Port Hood making plans for RV park
The Cape Breton community of Port Hood wants to invest up to $900,000 in a new camping park for recreational vehicles to help boost tourism, create some seasonal employment and better utilize its sports centre during the summer. Port Hood RV Co-Operative Ltd., set up to develop the park, needs a minimum of $400,000 to begin construction. The co-op is selling shares at $5,000 each through the Community Economic Development Investment Fund (CEDIF).

Liberals' Ignatieff commits to aboriginal development, but no price tags
