The School of Public Administration welcomed the first cohort of students to the new Master of Arts in Community Development (MACD). The program prepares leaders for the challenges of today’s global issues in communities around the world.

Louis Grenier a récemment quitté le poste de directeur général du Conseil de la coopération de l’Ontario (CCO), un organisme représentant les coopératives francophones de l’Ontario. Le CCO a pour mission de contribuer à l’essor de l’économie sociale dans la collectivité francophone par la formule coopérative. Il réalise cette mission en permettant aux coopératives de se concerter, de promouvoir leurs intérêts et de soutenir leur développement.

Building Community: Conference Reflecting on Co-operative Strategies and Experiences

There is no charge to attend this one-day conference featuring presenters from leading co-operative organizations in Canada’s retail, finance, health-care, and insurance sectors. Speakers will explore how the co-operative model currently addresses the most pressing social and economic issues facing our communities, and how it might be applied to further effect.

2010 Applied Research Fund Program – Open for Applications

The 2010 Applied Research Fund program at the Institute for Nonprofit Studies, Mount Royal University, is now open for applications. University-based researchers in Canada are eligible to apply. A one-page letter of intent must be received on or before April 9, 2010 The deadline for full applied research application is May 10, 2010. Research priorities include governance within the nonprofit and social economy sector, sustainability of the nonprofit sector/nonprofit organizations, and policy modelling, analysis, design, and critique.

New Futures: Innovative Uses of the Co-op Model

This 30-page document produced by the Canadian Co-operative Association features a collection of profiles that provide examples of how Canadians have used the co-operative model in innovative ways.  It shows that, far from being powerless, we can, through co-operation, forge new futures for ourselves, our communities and our country. Engagement Telelearning Series – April, May 2010

The Canadian Social Economy Hub (CSEHub) and the Steering Committee for the 2010 National Summit on a People-Centred Economy are offering a series of telelearning sessions based on two series of papers that cover four important themes within Canada.  One series is being developed as Knowledge Mobilization papers by CSEHub researchers, and the other series has been prepared as issue papers for the 2010 National Summit on a People-Centred Economy.
